Brownie Letter

Last night at Brownies i gave a letter telling them i would be giving up at the end of term, below is a copy of the letter.

Dear Parents and Brownies

It is with regret I have made the difficult decision to resign as a Brownie Leader from the end of term

I started life with Brownies in 1992 and after 20 years, for several reasons I feel now is the right time to have a break.  I will miss my brownies but things change.

I have enjoyed my ‘Brownie Adventure’ and had a go at some lovely things, as well as gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience.

I have now reached that stage where my brownies have now become brownie parents.

I will always be prepared to ‘lend a hand’ and help out if and when needed.

As Sue is down a pair hands I am sure she will appreciate an extra pair of hands to help out.

 Regards

Mrs Dawn Davies

This morning i got a lovely email from Pearls Mum

Hi Dawn,
We were really sorry to see that you're not going to be doing Brownies - I know that Pearl will miss you! Hopefully we'll see you in person before the end of term.
Best wishes,
Tamasin

Sugar Cube Igloo

During Pack Holiday Sue and Debbie lovingly made an igloo from Sugar Cubes and Icing, then the Brownies made Marzipan Penquins to decorate it.

Pack Holiday 2012

This year our Pack Holiday takes place at The Jarman Centre, Newmarket, the team consists of myself (Leader in Charge), Sue (Craft Co-Ordinator), Eve and Eve’s Daughter Debbie (Cooks), Sara (First Aider).
18 Brownies, 2 Pack Leaders and 5 Leaders arrived on Monday 2nd April, after completing our On Arrival Checklist, we said Good Bye to Parents.  This year we are doing The Penquin Challenge, so after a drink and biscuit we did a Penquin Hunt, to try and identify all 17 Penquins, this hunt took us all over the house, including places that the brownies are not normally allowed, like the kitchen, first aid room and leaders bedroom, this gives them a chance to explore.

Above is our display of penquins, with an igloo with prizes in for the tidiest brownie, best bed space, etc.

We then had tea which was Chicken in White Sauce, Peas and Sweetcorn followed by Chocolate Pudding and Custard.  We had our first attempt at washing up.

Then we did a craft and made Penquin needle cases.

Then we had a bedtime drink and went to bed

We got up after a good first night, 11.15pm they were asleep and woke up 6.30am, not bad at all.
We had breakfast of cereal, croissants and toast., and then did our first duties.

The cooks cooked.
Health cleaned the toilets and bathrooms.

Housekeepers cleaned the seating area and prepared Brownies Own.

Waitresses cleaned the dining area.
Then we changed our programme as it was a lovely Morning, and the weather forecast was not good for the rest of the week, we had FREE TIME outside.
They were lovely grounds, we saw squirrels and birds, and lots of out door activities including Trampolines.

After Elevenses we made Mosaic Penquin Coasters

And Decorated Snowflake Spinning Tops

We then had Lunch of Tuna and Cheese Wraps, with Salad and Crisps followed by Fresh Fruit.

We had a Tuckshop in our surprise penquin.

We then made Penquin Snowglobes

We then had for Tea, Fish Fingers and Chips with Peas or Beans followed by Arctic Roll

We then made Boxes

We then had showers and got ready for bed

…….
We then had a bedtime story before bed

Fairy Day

We had another good night, going to sleep about 10pm and getting up at 7.00am.
Overnight we had rain and the rain continued, so during Wednesday we had to alter the programme.
The Fairy Penquin is the smallest of the Penquins, so we had a Fairy Day, the leaders wore Tiaras and had Wands and we had a sparkly star curtain leading into the main hall.

For Breakfast we had Cereal and Eggy Bread.
Then we did our duties again.
We made Origami Penquins

And decorated Bags to take our goodies home

We decorated Fairy Cakes to have with our packed lunch

Sue and Debbie made an igloo from Ice Cubes

The Brownies then made Marzipan Penquins for the Igloo

We then went out for a walk which was a bit drippy.

This should have led to a outdoor picnic but ended up indoors in a shelter because of the cold and rain

We then spent our money in the shop

Then after continually postponing it because of the weather we eventually got to do our Fairy Trail, the Brownies went out in groups and had to hold hands so as not to get separated, and found Fairy tokens in the grounds.

We then made Fairy Lanterns with twigs collected earlier, the brownies should have collected the twigs but because of the inclement weather Sue collected them.

For Tea we had a full Roast with Roast Pork and Angel Delight (as it was Fairy Day).
Then some Brownies acted out a story, before Bed.

And they were in bed before 9pm!

Birthday Girl

Another good night, and we woke up to a Brownie Birthday.  All the presents were laid out on a table for when she woke, some from Brownies and some from her Parents as well as a Penquin Card from the Brownies.

When she woke she opened her presents

Then we had Cereal and Sausage Baps for Breakfast

We then did our duties.

Then during elevenses we had the birthday cake and the candles were blown out, the cake was a Penquin cake lovingly made by Debbie, this was an ongoing project taking all week!

Then as it was a lovely day we decided to go outside and do the activities planned yesterday, but couldn’t complete because of the inclement weather.
So we made Fairy Houses using Natural things

We then made some uncooked sweets for our boxes that we made earlier in the week.

Then for dinner we had Jacket Potatoes, Cheese/Tuna and Salad followed by Jelly, Cream, sprinkles and wafers.

This afternoon we went outside and had a Winter Olympics
We had a Waddle Race

A Waddle Relay

Snowball Throwing

Grass Skiing

Tunnel Snowball

Ice Cube Racing

The Winners of the Winter Olympics was the Macaronis.

We then made Fimo Penquin Badges

For Tea we had Macaroni Cheese followed by Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Custard.

Then after showers we sat down to watch Surf’s Up

After another good night we woke to our last morning.
For Breakfast we had Cereal, Beans on Toast and Toast.
Then we got ready to go home.
After we were ready, we discovered the Easter Bunny’s had visited overnight, and we all went outside and hunted for 3 eggs, surprisingly enough a few were hidden in the Fairy Houses made earlier in the week.

Then we had an Egg Roll Competition after decorating the eggs

We then had our final (early) elevenses

We then had presentations, prizes, pack holiday and penquin challenges badges and our usual pack holiday bookmarks.

This was a wonderful pack holiday the girls were great, went to bed at a reasonable time, and ate well, very little bickering, brilliant.
