The Morning after the Night Before

Well Miles started off sleeping fine, sleeping with Charlotte, then at 1.30 heard him grumbling, eventually i gave up and went and got him, and he screamed solid for about 45 mins, then he dropped off, and he woke several times, the one he wanted was Grandad :(.

On top of that Bob wasn't well, he was aching and couldn't breathe properly so all in all not a good night at all.

I spent the morning catching up with jobs and doing housework.

Then at lunchtime, i left to go to Norwich for my job induction, I first met up with Tina Neil from Human Resources, where we discussed the contract and filled in loads of forms, she also gave me the Employee Handbook, this lasted about 30 minutes.  Then i had a meeting with Sam Woods Household Helpers Line Manager, she told me about my uniform, and my first customers, went through the risk assessment with me, this lasted about 3/4 hour.

We got home about 6pm and Kevin and Kinga came round and made us a Polish meal, it was Pork Roulade, which is Pork rolled and stuffed with a vegetable mixture, salad and New Potatoes, it was most delicious followed by Triple Chocolate Gateaux, served with wine.  It was a delicious satisfying spread.

Steven's INR is back at 3 so he is now back on Warfarin, other than that a quiet day.

Bruised and Battered

Last night after Bob had a bath, he had a quite serious Asthma Attack, this has happened before when he has a bath, i think it is all the heat and steam triggers it,  he was just getting over that and we were settling down to go to sleep about 1am, when the phone rang about 1.30am ish.

Micheal had got home from work about 12.30am, and he got the phone and they asked for me, it was A and E calling, they asked if i had a son Kevin, i said yes, i was then informed he was assaulted, he was ok and conscious and he was asking for his Mum, so i said that i would be right there.

Micheal offered to take me to which i gratefully accepted.

We arrived at the hospital and went straight to A and E, i was taken straight through to see Kevin, he was a complete mess cuts, bruises and abrasions, shoulder and knee injury and crying, he had also been throwing up blood.

When i arrived the police were there taking photographs, they had already confiscated his top clothing, for evidence, i was informed that they had someone in custody.  It is just like CSI.

Kevin grabbed hold of me an kept my hand in a vice grip for quite a while while the doctor cleaned him up, then we had to wait for an x ray, he had his shoulder and knee x rayed, and they were clear, the shoulder did have a damaged bone but no break.

Kevin has little recollection of the events, he had about 3 pints in the Cellar Bar, Hunstanton, the next thing he remembers was being in hospital with nurses around him. Although he had been drinking, there was no evidence of him being drunk.

The person Kevin believes they have in custody is his friend Richard who lives at Mallard Close, Snettisham with his wife Tamsin and Son Lewis, he met Richard at the Oasis where he works as a Fitness Instructor, he is in his late 30's and befriended Kevin. They were out together last night, it was the same person he was out with when the police bought him home drunk on his birthday, with friends like that who needs enemys.

We eventually got home about 4am, we had a drink, Kevin had to use a straw, and then i put Kevin to bed. Kevin did insist on looking in the mirror and got one hell of a shock. The Doctor we saw was lovely and helpful most friendly, Kevin has been instructed to take Paraceymol and Ibropropen and to put vaseline on the abrasions.

Micheal said he hardly recognised him when he came out, and was quite irate, wanted to go and knock his lights out  it is good that family is sticking together at a time like this, however i disagree with those methodsmuch as i appreciate the sentiments.

Luckily he is not working today which is why he went out cos he knew after work yesterday lunch he wouldn't be in until Friday, typical only started a new job 2 weeks ago, he is back tomorrow, i hope he makes it in, we may have to use some cover up on him, won't look good serving customers bruised and battered looking.

He has to go back in a week to ENT clinic, to check if his nose is broken when swelling has gone down, if it is broken he has to be prepared for an op on that day, he is supposed to be constantly monitored for 48 hours as it is a head injury.

At 9am Police Officer PC Willis arrived and i had to get Kevin up with difficulty, Kevin's face is a complete mess, the policeman interviewed Kevin for about 1.5 hours.

This afternoon Kevin went to Kings Lynn Police Station to have professional photos taken of his injuries by CSI.  Later he got a phone call from a DC to say Richard had been charged and bailed on condition he does not go into Hunstanton except for work and has no contact whatsoever with Kevin, and Kevin would not have to go to court, which i presume means he is pleading guilty.

Jude found out for us Richards full name for us, he is Richard Codman facebook.com/richard.codman he has been off work since the incident because of a bad back!!

Jude rang to say someone called Graham from a flat at 2 Westgate was a witness and prepared to go to court.

Whatever, else is going to happen to this family, i am shattered and depressed.

Kevin Update

On the 29th March, Kevin was badly assaulted by a supposed friend Richard Codman aged 38 from Snettisham, he ended up in hospital badly bruised and battered with a broken nose.

Richard was arrested and charged with causing Actual Bodily Harm, because he pleaded Guilty, Kevin did not need to appear in court.

On the 5th September, Richard appeared in Norwich Crown Court for the final time for sentencing.

The sentence handed out was to pay £600 compensation to Kevin, 12 month jail sentence suspended for 2 years, 18 mth supervision order where he will get help for aggression and drink problems, 100 hours of unpaid work.

Sentancing him Recorder Christopher Morgan said "If you kick a person in the head it becomes a lottery as to what injury you cause them.  On another occasion you could be in the dock facing a far more serious charge"
The above was printed in the EDP on Tuesday 6th September.

Wow Kevin is now tattooed

Today Kevin had a tattoo on his upper arm, it was using Tribal Art, there was two tattoos he liked, he joined the elements of the designs that he liked and expanded it with the tattooist.  It was larger than i expected, probably about 15cm.  It looks pretty good,  It took 1 1/2 hours to do and it was very painful to do and he is still very sore.

He had the Tattoo done at   Spectrum Tattoo Studio, Hunstanton http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spectrum-Tattoo-Studio/155099371215710?sk=info#!/pages/Spectrum-Tattoo-Studio/155099371215710?sk=wall   and it cost £60.

Tribal art is an umbrella term used to describe artefacts and objects created by the indigenous peoples of (controversially named) primitive cultures. Also known as Ethnographic art, or Arts Primitive [2] Tribal art has three primary categories.
  • African
  • New World or Americas
  • Oceania
It can be thought of as folk art, often containing ritual/religious significance pertaining to the custom within a particular tribal culture [3] Typically originating in rural areas, Tribal art refers to the subject and craftsmanship of artefacts from small-scale societies (tribes).
Tribal art originates within three distinct geographical regions as categorised above.
The characteristics of a society that produces tribal art include:[2]

    Kevin and the Dentist

Yesterday, Kevin went to the dentist for a tooth extraction, afterwards he was not well and ended up going back to dentist, he was allergic to the anesthetic used, it had gone into his blood stream and he was reacting to it, it turns out he was allergic to the anesthetic and had to be put on anti biotics.

    Kevin Part 3

Just returned from a successful appointment at the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Department in the hospital with Kevin, he got on OK, he had a disaligned nose (not fractured) so it did have to be straightened, he had two local anaesthetic injections into the nose then after a couple of minutes the doctor used full force to straighten/manipulate his nose back into place, Kevin felt the bone go into place and it was agony, but when it was done he seemed ok just a bit woozy.  He is now fine.

In theory, that is the end of hospital treatment YAY!!

    The Kevin Saga Part 2

Bob hasn't been well since his asthma attack after spending all day with the shakes yesterday, today he called in sick and zonked out and spent the day in bed.

When Kevin eventually woke i wasn't at all happy with the look of him
His left eye had swollen so much he couldn't open it
His sight was blurry and he was confused.
He was drowsy and had weakness in his arms and left hand.
    He had a perpetual headache.
    Was still coughing up blood.
His mouth was sore and his jaw swollen so he couldn't swallow.
Numbness in knee, shoulder, hand and face.
    Difficulty breathing

I have been giving him Paracetamol and Codeine effervescent tablets
    Arnica tablets
    Applying arnica cream

I asked Debbie to go and have a look and see what she thought, she said need to ring up Doctors, so I did, they said go back to A and E, so I rang A and E who told me to take him in.

So up to A and E we went and got there about 12 noon, then after seeing the triage nurse we we waited and waited and waited for about 2.5 hours.

Then we were shown into a lovely Doctor we spent about 20 mins and he gave him a thorough check up, then we were sent to get a CT Scan

X-ray computed tomography (CT) is a medical imaging method employing tomography created by computer processing.[1] Digital geometry processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the inside of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation.[2]

CT scanning of the head is typically used to detect infarction, tumours, calcifications, haemorrhage and bone trauma. Of the above, hypodense (dark) structures indicate infarction or tumours, hyperdense (bright) structures indicate calcifications and haemorrhage and bone trauma can be seen as disjunction in bone windows.
But first we had to wait again.

Kevin was pushed in a wheelchair by porter Russell who goes to my church.

After the CT Scan we had to wait again and again for the results.

When the results came back, he had no brain injury, luckily, but there was fluid on the Sinus's which were causing some of the problems, like coughing up blood, headache, and blurred vision.

This could be possibly a symptom of a fractured nose and he has an appointment with the ENT clinic next wednesday to check this out.

Kevin does seem a bit better now, so hopefully on the mend.  However, Kevin still has no memory of events.
