Christmas

Christmas

We attended the midnight Christmas Service.

Waking up Christmas morning, how I miss the hustle and bustle of Christmas Morning when the children were at home, Bucks Fizz, Croissants, Presents, excitement. It all seems so flat and boring now.

We popped in to Jenny (my daughter) and family making our first Santa Visit.

We then went to Church, after Church we made our Second Santa Visit to Steven (my son) and family, my 4yr old Grandson Miles kept stealing Smarties when he was stopped, I asked if I was getting a Goodbye kiss he said No I'm in a Grump.

Then we went to Mum and Dads where Dad was also in a Grump. We finished getting our Christmas Dinner and had an enjoyable Christmas Dinner.

In the afternoon my sister Debbie turned up with her family where we did a quiz, talked and ate.

On Boxing Day we went to see my other son Micheal and family and played Santa.  Bob left for work and we all played Junior Scrabble.

Family Christmas Party - One More Drama

Yesterday was our Annual Christmas Party, all ready, table laid, posh frock on awaiting the invasion, and believe me when it arrived it arrived with a bang.

6pm arrived and at first we heard voices and was just commenting that they had arrived when there was an exploding noise, the house shook and we were deafened.

Dylan, 9yr old Grandson, ran up the garden path at full pelt, and completely shattered our Patio Door, he was a little battered and was taken to A&E as a precautionery measure, he was X rayed and the verdict was he was just bruised, They got back about about 8pm.

In the meantime Sophie his 15yr old Autistic sister had a complete meltdown, she was screaming, shaking and hysterical, she completely wrecked my small bedroom, blaming Dylan for ruining everything, she hated him and never wanted to see him again, eventually she calmed down but was still not happy.

Apart from these dramas it was a reasonably successful evening and a pleasant time was had by all present.

My Birthday

Considering my husband was working 2-10pm on my birthday it proved not a bad day.

It started off with us having breakfast at Sainsburys, then we did some shopping including buying some clothes, then we went home and shortly afterwards went to Poppyfields for Lunch.

After Bob went work, Jenny, Andy, Sophie and Dylan arrived, Sophie was in a bad mood as she had tripped over Gizmo the cat and wanted to go to school.

Then my Mum and Sister arrived.

Shortly followed by Micheal, Hana and Baby Micheal (Son and family) arrived.

When I had the evening to myself I watched DVD Holiday Inn a gift from my husband, and Strictly Final, while drinking wine and eating chocolates.

An awful day

This morning after Bob had left for work, i had a powercut at calendar club and had to revert to logging takings with pen and paper, but couldn't take cards, eventually got it sorted, then had a delivery of about 30 cases.

Then on leaving work the whole of King's Lynn was gridlocked, no one was moving anywhere, apparently this is because of road works at Saddlebow.  We eventually got out, and listening to the radio we fared fairly well.

However, the delays made Bob late for work.

Today being Stevens birthday, i took cake round to Stevens and we had pizza and cake.

Birthdays Birthdays

We celebrate 2 birthdays today, Jenny's and Miles

After work, we went to Jenny's, should have gone for a BBQ but i was late leaving work, so they had one without us, but we spent an hour at Jenny's and had a drink with them.

Then i went and picked up Jude, Miles and Charlotte and we went to the hospital, where we went to see Steven, Kira was also there, luckily Steven was feeling a little better, Miles opened some Birthday presents with his daddy, and we had some birthday cake.  After 15 mins Jude and Charlotte took Miles downstairs so as not to tire Steven, while i spent time with Steven, then i went downstairs and took over and Jude saw Steven.  It seemed to work rather well.

What an Incredible Day

It is still very hot, shop was steady, mum popped in today and had 2 pair of shoes, she was quite easy to please for a change.
Then this afternoon, i was on computer, looked up and just walked in the shop who was it but Gloria, we hugged and i was nearly in tears, it was great to catch up after all this time, 10+ years since we have seen each other.
We first met when we were neighbours in Mattishall.
Gloria said she could write a book about her life, so we are going to have a meet and have a good catch up, maybe with Zena and Jenny, hopefully in a couple of weeks, i can't wait.

Picture of Gloria and Jenny in 1981.
Illiana had a hospital appointment in Norwich today, about the removal of her 6th little toe, the toe had split in two and was V shaped, it will be removed during her 6th and 12th month, and will be scared after the removal she will have to have the tendons reattached as they will need to be cut.
After i got home from work i fed Illy and cuddled her.
Then i took Spot for a good walk, on a lovely sunny evening down Hunstanton Front, during the walk i met Penny from Church, Kiras friend Rebecca Wood and Jen and family and had a lovely chat with them all.

Another chaotic sunday

Took the children and me to church this morning.

At lunch we had a carvery with the smith clan in the club Eddie (Entertainment Manager) sees jen and andy and calls them The Waltons!

Then came back home and chilled amongst the noise, unfortunately we didn't spend much time outdoors because it was showery.

After tea, the Smiths went to the club and left Sophie with me, until madness and mayhem starts.

A good day

Last night during Bible study i got a very dry throat, thought nothing of it except that maybe i was suffering from the heat,  But within an hour of getting home i had a full blown cold, no creeping up on me gradually, but wham bam there it is.

Today we went to Docking Market and had a Cross Stitch Stall, which is the most successful yet, the best we have had so far.  I had a long chat with Michelle Rollason, she is a very interesting lady, she is a Dance/Exercise Teacher and on the Festival of Arts committee.

Today is Andys birthday, and we met the Smith clan at the club and watched a magician, he was quite good, although i left as i wasn't feeling too good.

Today i finished Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James, a novel which everyone is talking about, Libraries can't get enough copies and Shops have sold out. An interesting womans book, some very erotic scenes.

The Fifty Shades trilogy was developed from a Twilight fan fiction originally titled Master of the Universe and published episodically on fan-fiction websites under the pen name "Snowqueens Icedragon". The piece featured characters named after Stephenie Meyer's characters in Twilight, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. After comments concerning the sexual nature of the material, James removed the story from the fan-fiction websites and published it on her own website, FiftyShades.com. Later she rewrote Master of the Universe as an original piece, with the principal characters renamed Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele and removed it from her website prior to publication.[6

Family time in the sun

Jen and Andy stayed overnight so Craig, Sarah, Terry and Sandra could stay in their house.

Steven turned up around 8am, so Miles and Charlotte could stay with us, while he took his cupcakes to Drove Orchard Food and Craft Fair, in return Steven took my cross stitch kits with him.

I collected the children for Church, but then hit a snag i couldn't park anywhere so i had to come home and Bob dropped us off at Church.

When we got back all of us this included Jen, Andy, Sophie, Dylan, Craig, Sarah, Terry, Sandra, Miles, Charlotte, me and Bob, went to Manor Park complex for a Carvery.

Then we sat outside and talked and i did some cross stitch, Then Bob Collected Iliana who is staying the night for Micheal to collect her first thing in the morning.

For the first time i had 99% of my grandchildren.

We had a lovely tea lovingly prepared by Andy and Sandra, and lovely cakes baked by Jenny, then we decided to go to the club, the idea to keep Iliana occupied, but it didn't quite work, she just kept running off and wouldn't do as she was told, while Bingo was on i took the children to the playground, still Iliana caused trouble. After Bingo we went back to club to no avail, in the end i gave up and took her home.  On the way back she either ran off or sat down and refused to move, she is so so heavy, and has no discipline, it was really hard work and exhausting.

When we got back, i got her ready for bed, and made her sit on the settee, she wasn't impressed but i refused to let her move, she eventually fell asleep, and when Bob got in he put her to bed and she slept through.

The Davies Clan Together Again

As we had to drop off Micheal at Banbury, being down the road from Northampton, we got in touch with Bobs siblings, 3 live in Northampton area, 1 in Kent and 1 in Canada, and enquired for a possible meet, so after leaving Banbury we went to Northampton and checked into a Travelodge Wootton Northampton that we had booked on line. http://www2.travelodge.co.uk/

We later left for Barbaras who lived quite close and we met up with Peter and Linda, and John and Jean, and Brenda who came up from Kent to be with us, Janet in Canada was there in spirit and we raised a glass to her.

After a delicious meal in The Grange http://www.grangeinnpub.co.uk/ very reasonably priced.  We went to Barbaras for a coffee.

It was a lovely evening very relaxed and enjoyable, it would be lovely to get together more often, i hope it happens!!!!!!

It would be lovely to have a meet the the children and grandchildren, it is such a shame that they are cousins and don't know each other.

The next day we visited Delapre Abbey, see other blog in Out and About and then Bob decided to pay a nostaligic visit to Great Billing, we had a drive round and saw his old house, some places had changed but some were still recognisable.  We parked at the Playing Field and had a short walk.

Tips for a Family Walk

Regular walking is good exercise and sociable.
Don't force children to walk if they really don't want to - you might put them off for good.

Prepare fun activities before you set out

Make a list of natural things to pick up/spot on the walk (feathers, cones, animals)
Hide treasure before the walk.
Make Maps
Have some masks and fancy dress ready so the kids can 'play act' during your stroll.
Pack some treats to eat and drink along the way

Let them take a friend or join forces with another family.

Pick interesting and varied terrain for clambering and running wild.

Comfort
Be prepared to cut the walk short and praise special efforts or achievements.
A good pace is 1.5mph.
Ensure they have comfortable clothes and shoes, and carry extra layers with them.
Take waterproofs and wellies.
Give them a small rucksack to pack, carry and stash the 'treasures'

BID TO BURN SLEEPING FAMILY

Come across this by accident on the Lynn News website A BRAVE Hunstanton family were lucky to escape with their lives on Valentine’s Day after an arsonist set fire to their home in the middle of the night.
Steven Davies (23), his wife Shirley (40), and her daughter Sherilyn Atkins (15), of 22 Park Road, battled flames and toxic smoke with buckets of water after being woken just after 2.30am by heat and fumes. Also asleep was the couple’s two-year-old daughter, Kira.
An arsonist had pushed something through the letter box and fire had spread to the ceiling and walls. Mrs Davies believes the attack could be linked to a vendetta against her son.
Mrs Davies said: “I woke up and the heat struck me first. Then I realised I couldn’t see properly and the house was full of thick black smoke.
“I screamed out ‘The house is on fire!’ and woke everybody up. It was very frightening.
“Luckily we were able to put the fire out ourselves. We all ran around in a panic and got water out of the kitchen to throw over the flames.”
Sherilyn helped fight the fire, which destroyed the telephone landline. The fire brigade was called at 3am using a mobile phone.
“If I hadn’t woke up we would probably be dead now. We are all very shook up,” said Mrs Davies.
About two years ago Mrs Davies’ son, Barry Loose, was left badly beaten when a man attacked him with a crowbar while he was on his way to work. The family believe the same man attacked Mr Loose’s new Vauxhall Corsa six months ago, causing 2,000 damage. Mr Loose now lives in Lincoln.
Sherilyn said: “We naturally assume it’s the same man. We don’t know anybody else that would do this to us.”
Mrs Davies added: “There was tissue hanging out the front of the letter box. Obviously somebody had put something onto the tissue and rolled it through, so it would set fire to the carpet.”
DC Dave Day,of Hunstanton police, ruled out any link with the spate of arson attacks that plagued the town in September.
He said: “At the moment we are considering this as a serious arson attack on the family, but we are not connecting it with the incidents last year.”
