Bruised and Battered

Last night after Bob had a bath, he had a quite serious Asthma Attack, this has happened before when he has a bath, i think it is all the heat and steam triggers it,  he was just getting over that and we were settling down to go to sleep about 1am, when the phone rang about 1.30am ish.

Micheal had got home from work about 12.30am, and he got the phone and they asked for me, it was A and E calling, they asked if i had a son Kevin, i said yes, i was then informed he was assaulted, he was ok and conscious and he was asking for his Mum, so i said that i would be right there.

Micheal offered to take me to which i gratefully accepted.

We arrived at the hospital and went straight to A and E, i was taken straight through to see Kevin, he was a complete mess cuts, bruises and abrasions, shoulder and knee injury and crying, he had also been throwing up blood.

When i arrived the police were there taking photographs, they had already confiscated his top clothing, for evidence, i was informed that they had someone in custody.  It is just like CSI.

Kevin grabbed hold of me an kept my hand in a vice grip for quite a while while the doctor cleaned him up, then we had to wait for an x ray, he had his shoulder and knee x rayed, and they were clear, the shoulder did have a damaged bone but no break.

Kevin has little recollection of the events, he had about 3 pints in the Cellar Bar, Hunstanton, the next thing he remembers was being in hospital with nurses around him. Although he had been drinking, there was no evidence of him being drunk.

The person Kevin believes they have in custody is his friend Richard who lives at Mallard Close, Snettisham with his wife Tamsin and Son Lewis, he met Richard at the Oasis where he works as a Fitness Instructor, he is in his late 30's and befriended Kevin. They were out together last night, it was the same person he was out with when the police bought him home drunk on his birthday, with friends like that who needs enemys.

We eventually got home about 4am, we had a drink, Kevin had to use a straw, and then i put Kevin to bed. Kevin did insist on looking in the mirror and got one hell of a shock. The Doctor we saw was lovely and helpful most friendly, Kevin has been instructed to take Paraceymol and Ibropropen and to put vaseline on the abrasions.

Micheal said he hardly recognised him when he came out, and was quite irate, wanted to go and knock his lights out  it is good that family is sticking together at a time like this, however i disagree with those methodsmuch as i appreciate the sentiments.

Luckily he is not working today which is why he went out cos he knew after work yesterday lunch he wouldn't be in until Friday, typical only started a new job 2 weeks ago, he is back tomorrow, i hope he makes it in, we may have to use some cover up on him, won't look good serving customers bruised and battered looking.

He has to go back in a week to ENT clinic, to check if his nose is broken when swelling has gone down, if it is broken he has to be prepared for an op on that day, he is supposed to be constantly monitored for 48 hours as it is a head injury.

At 9am Police Officer PC Willis arrived and i had to get Kevin up with difficulty, Kevin's face is a complete mess, the policeman interviewed Kevin for about 1.5 hours.

This afternoon Kevin went to Kings Lynn Police Station to have professional photos taken of his injuries by CSI.  Later he got a phone call from a DC to say Richard had been charged and bailed on condition he does not go into Hunstanton except for work and has no contact whatsoever with Kevin, and Kevin would not have to go to court, which i presume means he is pleading guilty.

Jude found out for us Richards full name for us, he is Richard Codman facebook.com/richard.codman he has been off work since the incident because of a bad back!!

Jude rang to say someone called Graham from a flat at 2 Westgate was a witness and prepared to go to court.

Whatever, else is going to happen to this family, i am shattered and depressed.
