Stevens Housing

Steven has lived in the flat since 2001, 8 years, and now he has got to move out of the flat, it is a good thing, because a family needs a house with a garden.
He is on the priority council list, but so far been unsuccessful, they expect him to bid for everything no matter how far away.  They give no thought to getting too and from Steven and Judes work, the disruption of family life so Bob got involved and wrote the following email to Stevens housing officer and copied in Henry Bellingngham MP
Dear Laura,
My son Steven has been discussing his housing situation with my wife and I.
Your letter of the 23rd of June concerns us. Please correct me if I am
wrong, but you seem to be suggesting that my son has to bid on any property
you advertise, with no regard to his work, his wifes work and his chlidrens
school circumstances.
The fact that he and his wife would have to give up their jobs in order to
move to most of the places being advertised, seems to have no bearing on the
matter. After all, two more unemployed people will make no difference to
statistics.
Currently, Steven, and his family, live, work go to school and have family
in Hunstanton. The flat they are currently living in requires work to be
carried out on it and they were given notice. Moving to Heacham, Snettisham
or Dersingham is an option, but they have been excluded from this option, at
least once, as they do not already live there. Steven is very fortunate,
that they have not been thrown out onto the street, as the notice period he
was given has already passed. It is only due to the fact that he has been on
good terms with his landlady, that she has been fair and understanding so
far.
Steven works as a Catering Manager at a care home in Hunstanton, which
requires early morning starts, while his wife, Jude, works at Shoezone in
Hunstanton. Their working hours mean that one or the other is available to
look after their daughters prior to and after school. Adding a long journey
for both of them would mean that the children would be unsupervised for long
periods, a destruction of family life and potential danger to the girls.
In addition, extended journeys, to and from work, would put additional
financial pressure on the family. Unless I am mistaken you do not take cost
of travel into consideration when calculating housing benefits.
If you require Stevens permission to discuss any of this, feel free to
contact him.
Perhaps he should be claiming to be part of an ethnic and social minority.
After all, he is white caucasion and isn't gay!

Henry Bellinghams PA got in responded with the following reply virtually straight away

Thank you very much for copying this e-mail to Henry Bellingham.
Mr. Bellingham would be happy to take up your son's case; I would be very grateful if you could e-mail his contact details such as postal address/ e-mail address or alternatively perhaps you could kindly pass this e-mail on to your son and ask him to contact us directly if he would like Mr. Bellingham to take up the case.
I look forward to hearing from you .

Steven has won the bid now on 4 Iveagh Close, Dersingham, after rattling cages and a lot of prayer.
