Jesus Calms the Storm

Unfortunately, i was doing Junior Church on Sunday, and the sermon was done by Mark Bish, and Jo said it was quite particular to my circumstances it was based on

Mark 4 35:41

Jesus Calms the Storm
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”  39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Jo made me some notes i copied them as follows:-

Where is the Lord taking ME this year?
God is with us.  975?
We like safe harbours, we like the edge not the deep.
Life is about change everyday
Durng the journey obedience that we grow.
There is no life in a Dead Place (Church etc)
Jesus has called us to follow him - he has a great plan but it is probably at the other side of the lake.
The disciplies did it immediately, we should do so.
Other boats -  we are not on our own - others are there supporting along side - Joshua 1 v 5.
I will never leave or forsake you
Then came the storm (don't panic!!) taking in water, very little warning, suddenly swamped, surface winds (unpredictable), Ocean currant (God's unchanging love - the flow of it will continue to guide us)
We look for Jesus (He's asleep)
God seems to have gone away and I need him  - 1 John 4:18
No fear in love - Eagles uses storm to lift it above the storms (Isiah)
It's not the burdens that weigh us down it is the way we handle it.
Jesus said 'Quiet, Be still' - the power in Jesus "Losanas comment - it is finished - he is Lord - he speaks quiet words of love and support - we have to listen above the storms.
We need to call on Jesus 'Why are you so afraid'
God is not angry - he wants the best for us.  He wants us to trust him.
They didn't seem to realise his power - they were happy with a human Jesus but struggled with a divine Jesus who commands the World.
With Jesus in the boat of our lives there is calm and peace.
