Styx and Stones by Carola Dunn
It is 1923, and the Honourable Daisy Dalrymple is asked to go to her brother-in-law's village to investigate a series of poison-pen letters that several of the residents have received. As Daisy discovers, the village is a hotbed of intrigue, and foul murder quickly ensues.
