Hunstanton in Bloom

In 1993 to celebrate the Brownies 80th Birthday, Hunstanton Brownies decided ask the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk if they could plant a Flower Bed to commemorate the Brownies 80th Birthday, the Town Flower Bed was already booked so they agreed to prepare a Flower Bed especially for us, to celebrate it Hunstanton Brownies planted the flowers in co operation with the Borough Council, we continued this for a few years, but through several factors, this all fell by the wayside.

In 2005 Hunstanton in Bloom was starting to be recognised and they wanted participation from Youth Groups. As one of the relevant parties Hunstanton Brownies was approached and attended a meeting, in this meeting the ‘Brownie Bed’ was raised, nobody knew why it was called the Brownie Bed, until we informed them of the History.

It was suggested that Hunstanton Brownies hold a competition for a Flower Bed design, we then handed the entries in to the Parks Department of the Borough Council, who chose a winner, when the plants were ready  Hunstanton Brownies with help from the Council, went along and planted the Flower Bed. The winning Brownie receives a certificate from the Borough Council.

The council maintain and water the Flowerbed.  Since 2005 this has been a regular event in our Brownie Calendar.

Winning Design 2007 celebrating the Rainbows 20th Birthday, it looked a lot better when the plants have grown.
